As January fades into February, many of us assess the goals we set just a few weeks ago. Perhaps you started strong but soon lost momentum, or life’s busyness and unscheduled twists and turns derailed your plans. The good news is that it’s never too late to pause, reflect, and reset.
LET'S GO!!!
Philippians 3:13-14 reminds us: “Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
Reflecting on the past isn’t about dwelling on the missteps—mishaps and mistakes, but about gleaning valuable wisdom to move you forward with clarity and purpose.
When you reframe the narrative, these perceived mistakes are the wrapping for more remarkable progress.
Here are five simple steps to help you maximize the month of February (By the way, I am doing this exercise as I write this article):
Before moving forward, evaluate what worked and what didn’t in January. Ask yourself:
What were my wins? Celebrate even the small victories.
What challenges did I face? Identify recurring obstacles.
What lessons did I learn? Every experience, good or bad, offers insight.
By acknowledging your progress and areas for growth, you set a strong foundation for February.
Are your goals still aligned with your bigger vision? Life’s changes may require some tweaks or subtle adjustments. Revisit your goals and ask:
Are these goals still meaningful to me? Make sure they reflect your God-given purpose.
Do I need to adjust my timeline? (Anyone else believing, praying and preparing for quantum leaps? I know I am!) Progress doesn’t have to be linear.
What’s my why? Reconnect with the deeper motivation behind your aspirations. Whose lives are you impacting for the better? What remarkable results were created because you are the master of what God has called you to do in the world? The anointing on your life is not for you, I'm just saying...
Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” Surrendering your goals to God ensures your efforts remain aligned with His will.
Success isn’t willpower—it’s having the right systems to create more leverage and margin in your life.
Consider:
Time Management: Block time for your priorities and eliminate distractions.
Support Systems: Who can help you stay accountable or lighten your load? We all need some strategic WHOS: mentors, coaches, team members, spiritual leaders, destiny helpers....you name it. We cannot effectively carry out the vision without the right HELP.
Tools and Resources: Simplify your workflow by using planners and apps or automating repetitive activities.
Remember, small, consistent actions often lead to the most significant results. “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin” (Zechariah 4:10).
Your mindset sets the tone for your month. Focus on:
Gratitude: Reflect daily on what you’re thankful for.
Faith: Trust God’s timing and provision for your journey.
Resilience: Let setbacks fuel your determination rather than derail you.
Isaiah 40:31 promises, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Reflection and planning are essential, but action is what propels you forward. Identify one key goal for February and break it into manageable steps. Commit to taking daily actions that align with your vision.
